CHUDAN DENG

ABOUT CHUDAN
Pianist · Artistic Director · Founder of Rain Music
Chudan Deng is a London-based pianist, artistic director, and founder of Rain Music. Her work combines classical performance, concert curation, and cross-cultural artistic collaboration, with a focus on creating engaging musical experiences that connect audiences through both traditional and contemporary repertoire.
Originally trained in China and now based in the United Kingdom, Chudan studied Musicology and Piano Education at the China Conservatory of Music before completing a Master’s degree in Arts and Cultural Education at King’s College London. Living and working across both cultures has shaped her artistic perspective, inspiring her to explore the dialogue between Chinese musical traditions, Western classical music, and innovative concert presentation.
As a pianist, Chudan has performed in concert halls, churches, and cultural venues across the UK and China. Her repertoire spans classical solo and chamber music, Chinese piano works, contemporary arrangements, and music inspired by animation, film, and video games. Beyond performance, she approaches each concert from a curator’s perspective, carefully shaping programmes that create meaningful connections between performers, repertoire, and audiences.
Recent projects include Game Music Reimagined and Animated Worlds in Concert, two concert series that reinterpret music from video games, animation, and film through the language of chamber music. By presenting familiar works in a classical setting, these projects introduce new audiences to live performance while offering fresh artistic perspectives on contemporary repertoire.
Alongside her performing career, Chudan develops and directs collaborative concert projects with musicians from diverse artistic backgrounds. She oversees artistic programming, performer coordination, rehearsal planning, and the overall creative direction of each production. Her projects frequently bring together classical repertoire with cross-cultural themes, creating concerts that are both artistically refined and accessible to wider audiences.
In 2026, Chudan founded Rain Music, a London-based artistic organisation dedicated to performance, cultural exchange, artistic collaboration, and community engagement. Through curated concerts and collaborative projects, Rain Music provides a platform for musicians from different backgrounds to create meaningful artistic experiences while making classical music more approachable for contemporary audiences.
Through her work as a pianist, artistic director, and cultural entrepreneur, Chudan is committed to expanding the possibilities of classical performance by combining artistic excellence with creativity, collaboration, and cultural dialogue. She continues to develop projects that celebrate the richness of musical traditions while exploring new ways of engaging audiences in the UK and beyond.
